Job summary

The Intersect Group is seeking an experienced accounting professional in Atlanta to manage day-to-day general ledger activities, prepare financial statements, and support month-end and year-end closes. The ideal candidate holds an active CPA or is pursuing licensure, with 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel/ERP skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day general ledger accounting activities.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Lead or support the month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare account reconciliations and investigate variances and unusual transactions.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other accounting adjustments.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash accounting activities as needed.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal controls.
• Support external audits, tax filings, and other financial reporting requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and controls.
• Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for management and external stakeholders.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting team members.
• Take on special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

This role is well suited for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, proactive, and interested in taking on increasing responsibility within the accounting function.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA license preferred, or actively pursuing CPA licensure with a demonstrated plan to complete the requirements.
• 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including public accounting and/or corporate accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting/ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

CPA / CPA Track Requirement

• Active CPA license; or
• CPA candidate who has completed or is completing the applicable education requirements and is actively preparing for or taking the CPA examination; or
• Demonstrated commitment and eligibility to pursue CPA licensure within a reasonable timeframe.

Preferred Skills

• Public accounting or Big Four experience.
• Experience with NetSuite / Sage Intacct / QuickBooks / SAP / Oracle / other ERP.
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
• Experience with financial statement preparation and audit support.
• Experience implementing accounting process improvements or internal controls.
