Are you passionate about building and nurturing customer relationships? As an Outside Account Manager at Ryerson, you will play a key role in maintaining and expanding our transactional business with current and past customers within your designated marketplace. This position offers the opportunity to leverage your skills in relationship management and business development, ensuring exceptional service and support for our clients.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with contacts at all levels within customer organizations, especially with purchasing decision makers, developing trust and confidence in Ryerson.
  • Collaborate with inside sales, credit, inventory, and other departments to achieve company and customer objectives.
  • Monitor the competitive environment and provide market intelligence to shape sales strategies, pricing, and working capital decisions.
  • Increase revenue by selling value-added services and growing new business through profitable transactional growth.
  • Manage customer accounts, including margin analysis, market information, and quality initiatives.
  • Develop and implement sales and commercial programs, promoting E-Commerce capabilities.
  • Execute daily call planning to keep customers informed about industry and economic trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, with responsibilities subject to change.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in marketing, business, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of sales experience in the metals service center industry or similar industrial sales background.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with SAP and Salesforce.com is highly desirable.
  • Strong business acumen, excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills; persuasive negotiation skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to build strong relationships quickly.
  • Competitive, self-motivated attitude essential.
