Our client, a rapidly growing retail and e-commerce brand with ~1,000 employees, is seeking a Senior Account Executive (SAE) to drive new business acquisition, expand strategic customer relationships, and accelerate revenue across key accounts.
This is a quota-carrying role responsible for managing the full sales cycle — from outbound prospecting to closing — while also nurturing and growing existing mid-market and enterprise partnerships. The ideal candidate is a proactive, consultative seller with strong commercial instincts, exceptional relationship-building skills, and experience operating in fast-paced consumer and retail environments.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
- Own end-to-end sales cycle for mid-market and enterprise prospects across retail, wholesale, marketplace, and digital commerce channels.
- Generate pipeline through outbound outreach, industry events, LinkedIn prospecting, partner networks, and lead qualification.
- Deliver compelling pitch narratives and ROI-driven proposals tailored to merchandising, operations, and buyer/procurement teams.
- Build multi-threaded relationships to deepen influence and improve win rates.
- Consistently meet or exceed quarterly revenue and pipeline targets.
Account Management & Expansion
- Manage a portfolio of existing accounts, driving renewals, category expansion, and new product introductions.
- Conduct regular performance reviews with customers to analyze sell-through, replenishment needs, inventory constraints, and promotional opportunities.
- Identify cross-sell opportunities including:
- Seasonal programs
- Enhanced merchandising and co-marketing
Deal Structuring & Negotiation
- Prepare pricing models, discount structures, freight terms, and promotional proposals leveraging data and margin analysis.
- Lead contract discussions in partnership with Finance and Legal, ensuring compliance with company policies and customer requirements.
- Masterfully negotiate volume commitments, payment terms, and marketing spend to optimize revenue and profitability.
- Maintain accurate pipeline tracking, opportunity stages, and forecasting within CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).
- Provide visibility to leadership on deal risk, sales velocity, and market trends.
- Develop repeatable sales processes, playbooks, and objection-handling strategies to increase effectiveness.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with internal teams such as:
- Merchandising — assortment planning, category insights, sales performance.
- Operations & Supply Chain — inventory availability, order fulfillment, replenishment cycles.
- Finance — deal modeling, margin analysis, revenue projections.
- Serve as the voice of the customer to inform product decisions, packaging requirements, and channel growth strategies.
- Monitor competitive landscape across DTC, retail, and e-commerce to identify whitespace opportunities.
- Provide prospect and customer insights to help shape GTM strategy and commercial planning.
- Attend tradeshows and industry events to expand visibility and pipeline.
Qualifications
- 3–6+ years of sales experience, ideally in retail, e-commerce, CPG, wholesale, or marketplaces.
- Proven track record hitting or exceeding quotas in a consultative B2B environment.
- Strong understanding of merchandising calendars, retail operations, and omni-channel sales cycles.
- Experience managing multi-stakeholder negotiations and closing mid-sized to enterprise-level deals.
- Highly analytical with the ability to run margin models, understand P&L impact, and interpret sales data.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and relationship-building skills.
- High degree of initiative, resilience, and ownership.
Leadership Attributes
- Commercially savvy: Understands deal economics, retail dynamics, and growth levers.
- Relationship-first: Builds trust and long-term strategic value with partners.
- Results-driven: Operates with urgency, discipline, and ownership.
- Persuasive storyteller: Crafts compelling value propositions tailored to each buyer.
- Growth-mindset: Thrives in fast-paced, scaling environments.
