Job summary

The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking an academic advisor to deliver individual and group advisement to current and prospective students. You will manage an assigned caseload and provide guidance to supplement and enhance academic experiences, retention, and completion.

Responsibilities include advising in person/virtual/phone/email, guiding degree planning, tracking progress, interpreting transcripts, and documenting in MyMav.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or four years of equivalent education and experience.
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • One year of experience working with college students in advising or the equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic advising to current and prospective students through in-person, virtual, phone, and email communication.
  • Guide students on degree requirements, course selection, and educational planning, while fostering informed decision-making.
  • Monitor assigned student caseload by supporting academic progress through outreach, degree verification, and timely resolution of holds and forms.
  • Review and interpret transcripts, placement results, and student data, while documenting advising interactions in MyMav according to best practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and University policies; stay informed on academic programs and student support services; provide referrals as appropriate.
  • Participate in campus events (such as New Maverick Orientation), advising meetings, professional conferences, and development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
