Job summary

Southern University at New Orleans in New Orleans, LA seeks a Senior Academic Advisor to provide comprehensive academic advising, retention support, and holistic student-success coaching to first-year, second-year, transfer, and continuing students.

Reporting to the Director of University College, the role leads training, collaborates with Athletics and campus partners, and uses EAB Navigate 360, Banner, and Excel to monitor progress and support degree completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, higher education, or a related field.
• At least five years of university-level academic advising or related student-support experience.
• Knowledge of student-success principles and data-informed interventions.

Responsibilities

• Lead advisor training on EAB Navigate 360 features and advising protocols.
• Advise freshmen, continuing and transfer students including athletes with 0-60 credits.
• Provide holistic coaching to support academic achievement, leadership, wellness, and career readiness.
• Collaborate with Athletics, faculty, and campus partners to monitor student performance and persistence.
• Develop targeted outreach and interventions for at-risk students.
• Maintain advising notes and case records for each student.
