Job summary

SUNO seeks a Senior Academic Advisor to provide comprehensive academic advising, retention support, and holistic coaching for first-year through continuing students with 0–60 earned credits. The role reports to the Director of University College and supports the implementation of EAB Navigate 360, training, and campus-wide student-success initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, higher education, student affairs or a related field
• At least five years of university-level academic advising, mentoring, coaching, or student-support experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of student-success principles, retention practices, and data-driven progress monitoring

Responsibilities

• Lead advisor and faculty training related to EAB Navigate 360 and advising protocols
• Advise freshmen to transfer and student-athletes with 0-60 earned credits on course selection and degree planning
• Provide holistic coaching to support academic achievement, leadership, wellness, and career readiness
• Collaborate with Athletics staff, coaches, faculty, and departments to monitor academic performance and persistence
• Maintain advising notes and case records for assigned students throughout each semester
• Analyze academic progress and design outreach to at-risk students
• Identify barriers and connect students with campus resources
• Facilitate workshops on time management, study strategies, and career preparation
• Explain policies, regulations, and degree requirements to students and stakeholders
• Support orientation, registration, recruitment, and student engagement programs
• Maintain relationships with deans and faculty and communicate curriculum updates
• Assist with academic forms, withdrawals, changes of major, and graduation planning
• Maintain reports using EAB Navigate 360, Banner, and Excel
• Lead campaigns to support retention and enrollment management
• Work evenings and weekends during athletic seasons and events
