Job summary

LSU New Orleans is seeking a Student‑Athlete Academic Services professional to provide comprehensive academic counseling and monitor progress for assigned student‑athletes. The role coordinates study halls, tutoring, and meetings for teams while guiding Life Skills, Career Development, and outreach programs.

The position includes collaboration with coaches, faculty, and advisors, ensuring NCAA compliance and supporting student‑athlete success through structured academic planning.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in higher education or working with high school students.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA academic eligibility rules and requirements.
• Proven ability to develop, establish and sustain relationships with various constituents.
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work nights, weekend and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic counseling and class scheduling assistance for student‑athletes and assigned teams.
• Monitor academic performance, tutor appointments, and prepare academic reports for designated sports.
• Meet regularly with at‑risk student‑athletes to develop academic and time‑management plans and assess progress.
• Liaise with First Year and Academic Advisors to monitor student‑athlete registration and degree progress.
• Coordinate and facilitate community service, life skills and career development programming for student‑athletes.
• Support NCAA continuing eligibility certification processes and compliance tasks.
