Astra Space Operations, LLC is seeking a Production CNC Programmer in Alameda, California. The role focuses on programming 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills, using NX CAM to create high-complexity parts, and collaborating with setup staff to drive jobs to completion.

Applicants should have 8+ years as a CNC machinist, 2+ years with NX CAM, and proven capability to mentor teammates while managing priority scheduling across multiple machines. Strong QA and GD&T skills preferred.

Formación

• 8+ years experience as a CNC machinist in a fast-paced shop.
• 2+ years experience with NX Cam.
• Experience mentoring setup/operator personnel.
• Ability to schedule machine priorities and make quick calls on scope of work.
• Experience programming/running CNC lathes with live tooling.
• Experience programming/running 5-axis mills, mill-turns, and horizontal mills.
• Calculate feeds and speeds and solve geometry problems.
• Understand materials, inspection tools, and GD&T.

Responsabilidades

• Interpret drawings to select tools, workholding and inspection equipment.
• Utilize pallet sequences and tool life counters for efficient machining.
• Lead production on your machine(s) with pre-programmed jobs and setup guidance.
• Program production CNC machines using CAM software (NX), select tools and calculate feeds/speeds.
• Setup/Operate CNC machines or hand-off to support staff as needed.
• Operate manual machining equipment when required.
• Inspect in-process parts with handheld tools, possibly with QC lab support.
• Communicate with shop staff, QC, engineering and vendors professionally.
• Identify bottlenecks and suggest process improvements.
