Job summary

Astranis Space Technologies Corp. in San Francisco seeks a Machinist II-IV to program and machine flight components for spacecraft, supporting engineering with prototypes and production parts.

You will program and set up 2, 3, 5, and 9-axis CNC mills and lathes, inspect parts with CMMs, and ensure traceability in MES. The role requires a 3+ year track record in aerospace or high-precision industries, proficiency with CAM software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, MasterCAM), and the ability to work

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of aerospace or high-precision machining experience.
• Experience programming 3- and 5-axis mills.
• Experience programming 2- and 3-axis lathes.
• Knowledge of CAM software (SolidWorks/Fusion 360/MasterCAM).
• CNC controllers familiarity (Fanuc/Siemens).
• Experience with precision inspection tools.
• Ability to read safety data sheets and procedures.
• Onsite work five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Read work instructions and prints for aerospace parts and produce them on a variety of equipment in our machine shop.
• Program and set up 2, 3, 5, and 9-axis CNC mills and lathes, including tooling creation, tool selection, and operation.
• Use data from Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and hand tools to inspect parts and adjust the machining process to deliver conforming parts.
• Document builds via MES to control part configuration, document production issues, and keep traceability.
• Procure material and tooling for jobs as needed based on requests for parts and scheduled production.
• Own start to finish quality and part acceptance adhering to tightly tolerance features and critical characteristics.
• Write non-conformance tickets for defects created or found during the manufacturing process.
• Assist in training for new employees and other internal users of the machine shop.
