Job summary

GTN Technical Staffing has a client location in Spartanburg County, SC seeking an experienced Watch Commander to lead the security and operations watch floor of a high-availability campus.

The role requires real-time command across security, life-safety, access control, power status, and sensitive computing environments, directing on-shift personnel and incident response on a rotating 24/7 schedule.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in security operations or mission-critical environments.
• Supervisory or watch commander experience in 24/7 settings.
• Experience in security operations centers, command posts, or dispatch centers.
• ICS/NIMS training including IC-100, IC-200, and IC-700; IC-300 preferred.
• Ability to make time-sensitive decisions and lead incident command.
• Strong knowledge of physical security technologies including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and incident management systems.
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior on-shift authority for real-time command of the security and operations watch floor.
• Maintain continuous situational awareness across security systems, personnel activity, facility conditions, and operational events.
• Direct and supervise security officers, console operators, and response personnel, ensuring posts are fully staffed.
• Conduct shift briefings and documented handovers covering active incidents, system status, ongoing work, threats, and outstanding actions.
• Perform floor checks, post inspections, patrol verifications, and readiness reviews.
• Lead, coach, and develop on-shift personnel while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
