Job summary

Biorce in Austin is seeking a Semantic/Ontology Lead to own how Aika represents clinical and scientific knowledge. You will design and maintain ontologies and taxonomies, enabling cross-standards interoperability across SNOMED CT, LOINC, and HL7 FHIR.

Collaborate with data engineers and AI teams to embed semantic structures into the platform and ensure governance of evolving knowledge representations across the data landscape.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree or equivalent hands-on experience in biomedical informatics, CS, or linguistics.
• Real experience building or maintaining ontologies/taxonomies in healthcare or life sciences.
• Strong knowledge of SNOMED CT, MedDRA, LOINC, RxNorm and data standards (CDISC, HL7 FHIR, OMOP).
• Experience with ontology/knowledge-graph tooling (OWL, RDF, SPARQL, Protégé).
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain ontologies, taxonomies, and controlled vocabularies for clinical/scientific concepts.
• Ensure semantic interoperability across clinical data standards (CDISC SDTM/ADaM, HL7 FHIR, OMOP).
• Partner with Data Architecture and Engineering to embed semantic structure into the platform.
• Work with AI/ML teams to provide structured knowledge representations for models.
• Map external data sources to Biorce's semantic layer and manage governance.
