Job summary

Bausch + Lomb in Bridgewater, NJ, seeks a Lead AI Engineer, Knowledge & Semantic Systems, to build and maintain semantic models, knowledge graphs, and retrieval systems powering enterprise AI platforms. You will collaborate with data engineering, AI, analytics, and business teams to deliver scalable, compliant insights.

Responsibilities include defining metric governance, building a robust semantic layer, and ensuring high recall/precision in retrieval, with a focus on HIPAA-compliant data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in CS, data engineering, information science, ML, or a related field.
• 5+ years of data engineering, analytics, semantic modeling, or knowledge engineering.
• Expertise in SQL, dimensional data modeling, and metrics governance.
• Hands-on experience with semantic layer tools (dbt Semantic Layer, MetricFlow, LookML, Cube, AtScale).
• Experience with knowledge graphs, ontologies, and graph databases (Neo4j).
• Experience with vector databases, retrieval systems, and search optimization.
• Understanding of LLM-enabled solutions, including RAG and MCP.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain the governed semantic layer for commercial metrics and access policies.
• Codify metric definitions like TRx, NRx, market share, with source and calculation details.
• Enforce constraints to prevent semantically invalid queries in the layer.
• Extend ontology and knowledge graph covering entities and relationships used by agents.
• Apply entity resolution across prescriber, account, CRM feeds across systems.
• Maintain taxonomies, synonyms, and alias mappings for consistent terms.
• Encode temporal validity for territory changes and formulary updates.
• Own the retrieval stack end to end: chunking, embeddings, index tuning.
• Track recall/precision and grounding quality; regression test changes.
• Manage reindexing and vector infrastructure at scale.
• Expose semantics to agents via MCP servers and contracts.
• Partner with Applied AI Agents engineers; sprint cadence and accuracy measures.
• Diagnose grounding failures and remediate at the layer.
• Operate a federated model with analysts to curate canonical definitions.
• Collaborate with Data Eng, IT, Privacy, Compliance on access policy and HIPAA.
