Job summary

Inovalon, Inc. is seeking an experienced Clinical Informatics & Ontology Lead to guide enterprise terminology, ontology strategy, and governance for real-world data products.

The role drives data normalization, reference data, and value sets, partnering with engineering, product, and clinical teams to ensure high-fidelity source data and scalable ontology workflows. The leader will design terminology services, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and corporate policies while

Qualifications

• 10+ years in healthcare data, clinical informatics, terminology management, or related field with Bachelor's degree.
• 7+ years with Master's degree.
• Deep expertise with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm and related lifecycle management.
• Proficient SQL for querying, profiling, validating large healthcare datasets.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, governance, and maintenance of clinical ontologies and terminology assets.
• Own normalization and terminology services; map business requirements to terminology configurations.
• Guide clinical normalization for structured and unstructured data with governance.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Product, and Clinical teams to ensure fidelity.
• Define data quality rules and semantic validation checks; identify gaps and impacts.
• Provide input into migration of legacy references to scalable terminology services.
• Evaluate data assets for clinical depth, code specificity, and semantic fit.
• Document ontology decisions, mappings, and dependencies for auditability.
