Job summary

Inovalon seeks an experienced Clinical Informatics & Ontology Lead to drive enterprise terminology strategy, governance, and data normalization across real-world data products. You will own ontology assets, value sets, and terminology services, ensuring data fidelity and scalable governance within the Enterprise Data Informatics team.

The role requires deep expertise in ICD-10-CM, CPT, SNOMED CT, LOINC and RxNorm, with strong collaboration across engineering, product, and clinical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in healthcare data, clinical informatics, terminology management, ontology governance, or related field.
• 7+ years in healthcare data/clinical informatics with a Master's degree.
• Terminology lifecycle management and vocabulary expertise required.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, governance and maintenance of clinical ontologies and terminology assets.
• Translate business and clinical requirements into terminology configuration and mapping.
• Define terminology-driven data quality rules and semantic validation checks.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Product and Clinical teams to ensure accurate implementations.
• Oversee governance, documentation, versioning and traceability for ontology decisions.
• Support migration of legacy reference data to scalable terminology services and knowledge graphs.

Education

Bachelor's degree in health informatics or related field

Master's degree in medical/clinical informatics or related discipline

Certifications in AHIC/CPHIMS/RHIA/CHDA or equivalent
