Job summary

Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health, a subsidiary of UHS, seeks a Full-time Financial Counselor / Collector to manage self-pay accounts and verify insurance while explaining patient financial responsibility before discharge. You will coordinate with the care teams to ensure accurate demographics and timely collection of balances.

The role involves negotiating payment plans, screening for financial need, and following up on self-pay accounts.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED; College degree preferred.
• Experience: 1–2 years in a medical office or hospital business office, billing exposure.
• Licensure/Certification: CPR/CPI certification required.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance, credit reports, Medicare, and data for admission.
• Work with Intake, Utilization Review, and Outpatient to ensure accurate insurance information.
• Enter insurance and billing data into MS4 and Midas systems; assist admissions.
• Prioritize Self-Pay follow-up at least every 30 days.
• Upload paperwork into MS4 and Midas systems.
