Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health is now seeking to fill a Full-time Financial Counselor / Collector position
Responsible for working all Self-Pay accounts. Will be responsible for meeting with the afternoon Outpatient accounts to complete the financial counseling paperwork and ensuring the demographics are correct and the insurance is verified. Accurately explains and educates the patient regarding their financial responsibility to the facility in a clear, concise, and professional manner at or before discharge. Talks with the patient or guarantor to collect entire self-pay amount or estimated out-of-pocket amount. Negotiates appropriate payment plans; screens patients who express a financial need or inability to pay; performs follow-up on all self-pay after insurance accounts.
Monday - Friday 40 hours per week

Education: High School diploma or GED; College degree preferred
Experience: One to Two years' experience in a medical office or hospital business office setting preferably will include working with billing healthcare entities such as Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial and Private Pay.
Licensure/Certification: CPR/CPI certification required.
Other: Basic reading, writing and mathematics skills; good telephone and oral communication skills; legible handwriting; ability to concentrate on tasks in high traffic area; ability to maintain information as highly confidential; meet deadlines; good organization and priority setting skills; preferred basic data entry skills with some computer experience; strong customer service skills; empathy; attention to detail.
