Job summary

Empowering People's Independence(EPI) seeks a dedicated professional to assist a 27-year-old male with brain injury and other disabilities, helping him stay active in the community. The role involves daily living support, advocacy, and coordination of activities in Hastings, NY.

The position requires a valid NY driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and flexible scheduling with some weekend events. Full-time, Monday–Friday, mornings and evenings negotiable.

Qualifications

• Must maintain a valid New York State driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must complete required trainings within 90 days of hire and maintain current certifications.
• Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Applicants cannot have the same address as person supported.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living including self-care skills, social skills, recreation skills, community skills, and domestic skills.
• Provide supervision, training, and assistance to help the individual stay active and involved in the community.
• Advocate for and liaise on behalf of the individuals' rights and benefits.
• Ensure safety and support during activities and transportation as needed.

Job Purpose:

• Assist individuals with brain injury, intellectual disabilities, and other neurological disabilities in achieving a challenging, stimulating, dignified life by serving as an advocate and liaison for and on behalf of individuals' rights and benefits.

Essential Functions:

• Provide supervision, training, and assistance in accomplishing activities of daily living, which includes, but is not limited to, self-care skills, social skills, recreation skills, community skills, and domestic skills for a 27 year old male. He enjoys bowling, basketball, games with friends, and other activities to keep him busy. He is looking for someone to help him stay active and involved within his community. He also has flexibility in his schedule during the week and looking for occasional weekends when there is an event he is interested in attending.

Location:

Hastings, NY

Schedule:

• Full Time (40)
• Monday-Friday (mornings and evenings - negotiable)

Pay Rate:

$24/hr-$26/hr

Education and Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent; one-year experience in the human service field preferred.
