Job summary

Empowering People's Independence (EPI) is seeking caregivers to assist two young adults in Lima, NY with daily living activities and skill development. The role involves supervision, training, and providing supportive services in self-care, social, and domestic tasks.

Candidates must be 18+, able to lift 50 lbs, hold a valid NY driver’s license, and have strong verbal and written communication. Prior human service experience is preferred. End of text.

Qualifications

• Must maintain a valid New York State driver’s license; a vehicle is required to perform the job.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities including self-care, social, recreation, community and domestic skills.
• Provide supervision, training and assistance for two young adults, adapting to scheduled activities.
• Act as advocate and liaison for individuals’ rights and benefits.
• Perform transportation duties as needed.

Job Purpose:

• Assist individuals with brain injury, intellectual disabilities, and other neurological disabilities in achieving a challenging, stimulating, dignified life by serving as an advocate and liaison for and on behalf of individuals’ rights and benefits.

Essential Functions:

• Provide supervision, training, and assistance in accomplishing activities of daily living, which includes, but is not limited to, self-care skills, social skills, recreation skills, community skills, and domestic skills for a two young adults. Family is looking for someone able to work with either individual depending on scheduled activities. Looking for staff to provide supervision, training, and assistance in accomplishing activities of daily living which include but not limited to, self-care skills, social skills, recreation skills, community skills and domestic skills.

Location:

Lima, NY

Schedule:

• Friday AM(assistance with getting on bus), PM(assistance with getting off bus) and Saturday during the day as needed

Pay Rate:

$17/hr-$18/hr

Education and Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent; one-year experience in the human service field preferred.

Qualifications:

• Maintain a valid New York State driver’s license; a vehicle is required to perform the job
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be trained in all required trainings within 90 days of being hired and maintain current certifications with all required trainings
• Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communications skills
• Must be 18 years or older
