Self-Employed Field Sales Consultant — Commission-Only

Job summary

SumUp is seeking experienced field salespeople to join as self-employed consultants in local territories. You will prospect, visit businesses, and demonstrate SumUp payments, POS and software solutions to merchants.

You’ll own the sales cycle from initial contact through closing, manage your pipeline, and build owner relationships with strong emphasis on local presence. This commission-only role rewards uncapped earnings based on performance, with support and onboarding from SumUp.

Qualifications

• At least one year of field sales experience within relevant sectors.
• Cold prospecting experience, including approaching businesses face to face and finding your own leads.
• Experience selling to small and medium businesses and dealing directly with owners or decision makers.
• Track record of winning new customers and meeting sales targets; provide examples.
• Ability to manage a sale from first approach to closing, handling questions and objections.
• Good organization and consistent follow-up.
• Understanding of self-employment and commitment to spend time in the territory.

Responsibilities

• Find new customers through face-to-face visits, door-to-door prospecting and direct outreach.
• Focus on local businesses with strong payment volumes that would benefit from SumUp's products.
• Ask questions about how each business works and recommend payment, card-processing, hardware, POS and software solutions.
• Manage the sale from first conversation through product demonstrations, objections and closing.
• Help customers get set up and start using SumUp products.
• Build relationships with business owners and ask satisfied customers for referrals.
• Plan visits and follow-ups to optimize territory time.
• Keep CRM records up to date and track activity, pipeline and sales results.
• Review progress with Territory Manager and apply feedback.
