Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks a Special Education Social Studies Inclusion teacher with an SEI endorsement to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. This anticipated long-term substitute position starts 09/02/2026 and ends 10/2/2026, with per diem pay initially.

The role focuses on delivering equitable, high-quality instruction aligned to IEP goals and state standards. The ideal candidate will have experience differentiating instruction for students with cognitive delays,

Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
• Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in the appropriate content area and Moderate Disabilities for the appropriate grade level.
• Meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
• Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching as outlined by Boston Public Schools.
• Current authorization to work in the United States by first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Implement district learning goals aligned with state frameworks and identify access points for student portfolio development.
• Provide small-group instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive delays to align with the general curriculum.
• Write and implement goals and objectives in student IEPs and provide progress reports on student development.
• Provide accommodations for learning and testing; develop curricula and analyze student work for MCAS Alternative Assessment as needed.
• Collaborate with staff to support student needs for modification and assist transitions to adult living services as appropriate.
