Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Engineer to lead and contribute to sediment remediation projects for federal and public clients. You will guide technical evaluations, design strategies, and client communications on complex sites, often coordinating cross-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• The frequency of travel is contingent on workload and project demands.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Providing expertise in evaluating the feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and preparing sediment remediation designs for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and/or port site settings involving multiple stakeholders.
• Understanding the scientific and engineering principles of sediment and contaminant transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring technologies, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial action design, and/or remedial action construction.
• Providing support of mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serving as CDM Smith’s task manager on various components of complicated sediments sites; communicating technical strategy to the client and collaborating with subject matter experts.
• Possessing in-depth expertise in CERCLA, GLLA, and other regulatory program steps at contaminated sediment sites.
• Serving as a technical liaison with the client, public, and outside consultants; communicating complex evaluations to non-subject matter experts.
• Leading other staff in preparing/reviewing technical information to ensure sound, regulatorily compliant documents.
