Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a System Development Engineer II to design, deploy, and maintain scalable security services across ADC regions.

You will work with a variety of languages on Linux, build automation tools, and leverage AI/ML capabilities to improve operational efficiency. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or CSSLP, plus extensive experience designing, deploying and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
• 2+ years designing or architecting new and existing systems with focus on reliability and scaling.
• 4+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph (and ability to obtain clearance for government agencies as needed).

Responsibilities

• Design, automate, and deploy scalable security solutions across ADC regions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production software issues across languages (Python, Java, TypeScript, Bash, Ruby) on Linux.
• Develop tools, automation, and monitoring to reduce toil and improve operational excellence, leveraging AI/ML where appropriate.
• Conduct deep-dive troubleshooting and post-mortems to identify root causes of complex distributed systems.
• Address system variances affecting major services and investigate inter-service configurations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud infrastructure maintenance and customer experiences.
• Contribute to design reviews and org-wide initiatives to improve builder experiences and AI-assisted development workflows.
• Apply Linux system administration skills to support operations and development.
• Leverage generative AI tools and prompt engineering to accelerate development and code quality.
• Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
