Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the Director and Manager of Security, supervises the day-to-day operations of the Security department in related to protecting the safety and security of patients, visitors, staff and physicians in an effective and efficient manner.
Description
- Provides for the optimum utilization of officers by creating assignments and supervising them effectively.
- Reviews and evaluates employee performance and initiates corrective action/education, if necessary.
- Assist with the development of departmental budgetary needs and makes recommendations for these needs to the Manager and/or Director.
- Assists in interviewing and selecting new officers.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Security Officer training.
- Conducts investigations into complaints and violations of security regulations and recommends course of action to the Manager and Director of Security. Implements and maintains an informational system that will document, preserve and record all security information, including daily logs and reports.
- Reviews daily logs and reports for accuracy and approves for submission.
- Liaison with Management and Law Enforcement as needed.
- Conducts and documents fire safety training and disaster drills to fulfill both JC and local Fire Department jurisdiction regulations.
- Assist with the development and implementation of hospital disaster drills and training.
- Assists in developing a parking plan and oversees the enforcement of traffic and parking regulations.
- Attendance required at all education and in-service training programs.
- Maintains professional competency by staying up-to-date on the changing trends of healthcare security procedures and practices.
- Perform other work-related duties as requested/directed by management.
- Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
- Challenges current working practices; identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management. Engages and commits to the organization’s culture of continuous improvement by actively participating, supporting, and promoting CCHC Pillars of Excellence.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience in healthcare security or law enforcement preferred.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) within four (4) months of new position and must renew annually.
- Completion of International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety basic certification program (“IAHSS”) within one (1) year of hire.
- Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) Instructor Training within four (4) months of hire and must attend MOAB instructor recertification training every 3 years.
- Basic Life Support certification (BLS) and must maintain certification within three (3) months of hire.
- Must have good writing and verbal skills.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
