Job Description

Security Supervisor, full time, Days, 7am-3:30pm, Every Other Weekend

Location: University Of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health, Bel Air

Job Summary:

Protects the hospital, its assets, patients, team members, and visitors. Patrols hospital and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and other crimes. Unlocks and secures hospital buildings and offices. Responds to security needs of hospital team members, physicians, patients, and visitors. Supervises security officers and provides performance feedback to the Director. Resolves operational issues among the team. Interacts with patients, families, and visitors of all ages, from newborns to the elderly.

Qualifications

Education & Training:

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Active BLS certification required.
• Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
• Must obtain International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification within one year of hire.

Work Orientation & Experience:

• Five years of related experience (military, security, law enforcement, etc.) or related Associate’s degree required.
• Substitutions of education, experience, and training are permitted.

Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret security reports.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to handle various situations.
• Ability to interpret instructions in various formats.
• Work well under pressure, especially during emergencies.
• Outstanding service excellence skills.
• Ability to intervene physically with aggressive individuals.

Compensation

Pay Range: $25.49 - $35.68, based on experience.
