Job summary

Target is seeking a Security Specialist in a fast-moving retail environment. You will protect guests, team members and the brand by using intelligence-led tactics, crisis response, and effective de‑escalation.

Responsibilities include security awareness, incident reporting, and collaboration with store leadership to maintain safe operations. You will support merchandising safety, participate in theft prevention, and operate surveillance tools while complying with all AP policies.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology.
• Effective communication skills.
• Work both independently and with a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
• Capable of remaining focused and composed in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments.
• Greet guests at 10ft, 4ft and provide warm, helpful interaction.
• Help guests find what they need and resolve issues for a smooth shopping experience.
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Promote a physical security culture and maintain safety standards store-wide.
• Respond to and document security incidents promptly.
• Apply de-escalation tactics and use surveillance resources as needed.
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and assist with theft apprehension per AP policies.
• Prevent theft by verifying merchandise on receipt and communicating trends.
• Document incidents in the case management system following AP policy.
• Understand and use Target's video surveillance system.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
• All other duties based on business needs.
