Qualifications

  • GED or high school diploma required.

  • Five (5) years of Security, Military, Law Enforcement or qualifying experience.
  • Five (5) years in supervisory and/or leadership role.
  • Certification in First aid/CPR and BLS.
  • Strong organizational, human relations and decision‑making skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer-literate with standard software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Creative with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with strong follow-through.

  • Promote high-quality customer service.
  • Investigate unusual or suspicious activities/incidents.
  • Monitor and review incident reports for completeness.

Job description

Position Summary

The Security Shift Manager has a key leadership role within the Casino’s Security Department, reporting directly to the Security Director. This position is responsible for overseeing all security operations during assigned shifts, ensuring the safety and protection of guests, employees, and property. The Security Shift Manager supervises security personnel, enforces policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

As the designated Incident Commander during emergencies, this role requires strong decision‑making skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams and external agencies. The Security Shift Manager also plays a vital role in upholding the Tesuque Guest Service Standards, delivering exceptional service while maintaining a secure and welcoming environment.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and a proactive approach to safety and guest service.

Native American preference will be given.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide a secure environment for guests, employees, administration and the general public.

  • Prepare routine incident reports on employees, guests or other related incidents.

  • Responds to all emergencies as required.
  • Attain and retain working knowledge of Casino’s Internal Controls, Security’s Policies and Procedures, Gaming and interdepartmental policies and procedures.
  • Promote the highest degree of quality customer service, both internally and externally.
  • Investigate all unusual or suspicious activities/incidents.
  • Monitors and reviews all incident reports for proper content and completeness. Promote effective teamwork and communication with supervisors while solving customer complaints.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education
  • GED or high school diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or qualifying degree preferred.

  • Must be certified in First aid/CPR and BLS.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be able to function successfully in a team environment.
  • Must be able to perform essential security duties including first aid/CPR and BLS.

  • Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor in a high stress environment.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including holidays, nights and weekends.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Bi‑lingual is preferred.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre‑employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, and obtain and maintain a gaming license from the Pueblo of Tesuque Gaming Commission.
Supervisory Responsibilities

The Security Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing the Security Staff in the Security Department during their shift, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational objectives. The supervisor provides guidance and assistance in addressing unusual situations that may arise, particularly those without clear precedents or requiring interpretation of policies and regulations.

Following initial training, the Security Shift Manager is expected to perform duties independently, demonstrating proficiency and autonomy in task execution. Regular spot checks are conducted to evaluate accuracy, adequacy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant rules, regulations, and policies.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk for extended periods. The employee occasionally is required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will be required to talk for extended periods and must be able to hear and understand. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to fifty (50) pounds. The work environment includes a variety of settings: food, oils, and cooking surfaces. The incumbent is occasionally exposed to loud noise and change in temperatures.

Work Environment

Work is generally performed in a casino setting with exposure to a high noise level. Due to the nature and scope of this position, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours and irregular shifts will be required.
