Job summary

Texas Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company Information Systems is seeking a Technician Intern to learn SecOps functions across scheduling, security access, and mainframe operations. You will gain exposure to code migration, testing, and incident handling in a professional setting.

As an intern, you will learn to use PC, mainframe and web tools, assist with problem research and solution deployment, and help train end users.

This position is responsible for SecOps functions appropriate for the Technician Intern level. This requires the ability to learn and perform one or more of the following functional areas.

Job Scheduling Operations:

• Scheduling and integrating jobs


• Application controls


• Balancing and distribution of data

Security Access Operations:

• Providing appropriate Data and User Security Access


• Controlling, maintaining, and monitoring security access to the computer infrastructure and data repositories

Mainframe and Associated Systems Operations:

• Running and monitoring applications


• Detecting application malfunctions and providing appropriate notifications

Code Migration Operations:

• Production path migration management


• Test environment availability and readiness management


• Code migration processes

Testing Operations:

• System test management and execution


• Script and script catalog maintenance


• Integration of testing with migrations

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY

• Learn to effectively use software tools to accomplish assigned tasks.


• Learn to effectively use the functionality of PC, Mainframe and Web applications and tools to perform job responsibilities.


• Assist in researching and resolving problems with applicable software.


• Assist in researching, evaluating, developing and deploying operational solutions to meet business needs.


• Assist in providing training to end users, when appropriate.


• Assist in communicating with vendors and users for problem resolution, as needed.


• Assist in creating and estimating task lists.


• Update and resolve Helpdesk incidents/requests per established procedures.


• Escalate problems to appropriate personnel, as needed.


• Report status on assigned tasks.


• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMIUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 30 lbs. without assistance.


• Repeated use of PC, telephone, printers and any other office machines.


• Extended periods of sitting and concentration.


• Frequent lifting, bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, and reaching in office environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Occasionally work long, irregular hours.


• Provide after-hours problem resolution, when required.


• Work to be conducted in office environment owned or leased by company.


• Travel, as required.
