Allied Universal is seeking a Part Time Security Officer (Unarmed) in Salem, VA to monitor an assigned utility site, deter incidents, and support access control and alarm response activities. You will provide friendly service while maintaining a visible presence and adhering to site procedures.

Responsibilities include patrolling, responding to incidents, verifying credentials, and documenting events. Ideal candidates have a guard card, comfort with tech, and 18+ years old for unarmed roles.

Qualifications

• Guard card or license is preferred.
• Experience with alarm panels is preferred.
• Experience with access control and badge systems is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.

• Provide customer service to employees, contractors, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns as needed.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of utility facilities, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas.
• Monitor access to designated areas, verify visitor and contractor credentials, and maintain logs and incident documentation.
• Communicate professionally with site personnel and Allied Universal leadership regarding security observations and incidents.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to employees, contractors, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a utility location.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns according to site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of utility facilities, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual conditions or unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access to designated areas, verify visitor and contractor credentials as required, and maintain accurate logs and incident documentation.
• Communicate professionally with site personnel and Allied Universal leadership regarding security-related observations, incidents, and operational concerns.

Minimum Requirements

• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Experience with alarm panels is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Experience with access control and badge systems is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
