Job description

Per-diem Officers are not guaranteed work; you can expect hours to be sporadic. Typically, you may be asked to work an entire week or longer if a full/part-time Security Officer is off for one reason or another. At the same time, you may go a week or more without work. It depends on what the needs of the department are at that particular time.

This position may be asked to cover at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital or ECH - Ticonderoga Campus locations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary responsibilities of the Security Officer are to conduct patrols within and outside the facility, respond immediately to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance, and document services provided for each shift. Other responsibilities include:

  1. Contribute to the preservation of life, protection of property, and overall safety of the campus for employees, visitors, and patients.
  2. Conduct thorough and fair investigations into any/all inappropriate activity.
  3. Provide education and guidance (as needed) to staff, visitors, and patients around reducing their likelihood of becoming victims of violence.
  4. Ability and willingness to operate and monitor any employer-supplied security equipment.
  5. All Security staff must be available for short notice call-in in the event of an emergency.
  6. Maintain a high level of confidentiality for all patient PHI (Protected Health Information).
  7. Must be able to work on weekends if needed.
EDUCATION

High School diploma.

EXPERIENCE
  1. Previous Law Enforcement or Security experience preferred.
  2. Successful completion of all related eligibility requirements for employment.
  3. Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  4. Good communication skills.
  5. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to evolving situations.

Upon hire, the Officer must complete the following employer-provided trainings:

  1. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
  2. Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) de-escalation training within 3 months of hire.
  3. Any other Healthcare Security and Safety trainings required for employment by the employer.
