Job summary

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer to support government facilities with customer service and security procedures. This role offers a fixed schedule with anchor shifts and opportunities to pick up extra shifts via a scheduling platform.

The position pays $17.34 per hour and is suitable for individuals seeking flexible, income-stable part-time work with potential progression toward full-time hours up to 40 per week.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and government facility personnel while carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of government buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help identify and report unusual conditions, unauthorized activity, and maintenance concerns.
• Monitor access points and observe visitor, employee, and vehicle activity in accordance with site procedures; report access concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, following established post orders and notification protocols.
• Prepare clear, accurate activity and incident reports, and communicate relevant information to supervisors, client representatives, and responding public service personnel.

How This Role Works

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.
