Job summary

Essentia Health is hiring a Security Officer to safeguard patients, staff, and facilities across our campuses. You’ll be part of a team dedicated to safety, responding to emergencies and enforcing campus rules to maintain a secure environment.

Position requires active Driver's License, 21+ age, and completion of required security training. Schedule is 4 days on, 4 days off, with 6am–7pm shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officers from the IAHSS within 1 year of hire
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 3 months of hire
• Completes de-escalation training within 5 months of hire or within past 3 calendar years refresh

Responsibilities

• Patrol the healthcare environment to deter crime, identify hazards, and prevent incidents
• Respond to emergencies, alarms, disasters, and threatening situations with aggressive persons
• Enforce hospital rules and maintain order to ensure smooth medical center operations

Education Qualifications:

• No education requirements
• Age requirement: 21+ years

Security Officers protect and safeguard patients, staff, other persons, assets and facilities within Essentia Health.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrolling the healthcare environment to deter criminal activity, identify hazards, prevent incidents and safety accidents
• Respond to emergencies, alarms, disasters, and threatening situations with violent, dangerous or combative persons
• Enforce medical campus rules and take action to maintain order and prevent disruption or interference with medical center operations

Schedule: 4 days on, 4 days off. 6am - 7pm. Weekends & holidays as they fall on rotation

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

• Completion of the Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officers from the International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security within 1 year of hire and renewal is not required
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 3 months of hire
• Completes de-escalation training within 5 months of hire if no previous de-escalation training or has not had a de-escalation training/refresher within past 3 calendar years
