Job summary

CentraCare Health is seeking a Security Officer to protect patients, staff, visitors and property within the hospital campus. The role includes responding to codes, patrolling lots and clinics, and writing detailed incident reports.

The position supports a 60-80 hour biweekly schedule with night shifts from 9:00p to 7:30a, and weekend flex shifts. A $2,000 hiring bonus, shift differentials, and full-time benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Experience in security or policing preferred.
• Minimum training and certification up to EMR preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Fingerprints required per Minnesota Statute 326.336.
• AHA BLS Healthcare Provider card required before orientation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and protect hospital patients, employees, guests and property.
• Respond to hospital emergency codes and security incidents.
• Frequent patrol of parking lots and clinics in patrol squad.
• Rounding on aggressive patients or those at risk for security intervention.
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities (theft, damage, trespass).
• Liaise with responding law enforcement agencies.

Job description

Find your purpose protecting the people who save people's lives! As the Security Officer your main responsibilities would be monitoring and protecting hospital patients, employees, guests and property, preserving the peace, preventing crime and detecting and detaining violators of the law. Daily tasks to include but not limited to responding to hospital emergency codes, frequent patrol of lots and clinics in patrol squad, routine rounding on aggressive flagged patients or those at risk for security intervention, writing reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences, and liaison to orient responding law enforcement agencies.

Schedule:

• Full-time 60-80 hours every 2 weeks
• Nights shift | 9:00p-7:30a
• Thurs, Fri and e/o Sat, Sun (flex shifts)

Pay and Benefits:

• Minimum hourly rate of $25.51 per hour; exact rate of pay determined by years of related experience
  • Pay range: $24.21-$37.08 per hour
• Night Shift Differential of $3/hr & Weekend Shift Differential of $1.05/hr

Qualifications:

• Experience in security, policing, training in law enforcement or private security preferred.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, and deal effectively with individuals/groups in a health care setting.
• Minimum training and certification up to the level of EMR preferred.
• A valid driver’s license and a driving record in good standing required.
• Must become certified in the use of the ASP expandable baton, handcuffing, VISTELAR and CEW (conducted energy weapon/Taser), as well as experience the effects a Taser within 6 months of hire.
• A full set of fingerprints in accordance with Minnesota Statute 326.336 is required.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required prior to completion of unit orientation.
