Job summary

Allied Universal in New York, NY is seeking a part-time Security Officer for a charitable facility. You will patrol, monitor access, and provide exceptional service to residents, staff, and visitors while helping deter security incidents.

The role offers a flexible schedule with Sat and Sun 12:00 AM – 08:00 AM shifts, pay of $17.25–$17.50 per hour, and opportunities for training and career growth within Allied Universal.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in customer service or visitor-facing roles is preferred.
• Familiarity with access control and badge systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers while following security procedures.
• Respond calmly to incidents and disturbances per reporting procedures.
• Conduct regular patrols of shelter buildings and common areas to deter incidents.
• Monitor access points, verify authorization, and report suspicious activity.
• Complete incident reports and shift handoffs accurately.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and/or service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, respectful, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of shelter buildings, common areas, entrances, parking areas, and perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify authorization when required, and report suspicious activity, hazards, and maintenance concerns to appropriate site personnel.
• Complete accurate activity logs, incident reports, and shift handoff communications in accordance with Allied Universal and site-specific requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• A Guard Card or license is preferred.
• Ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
