Responsibilities

• Assist Admissions with processing patients (wanding with metal detector, pat downs, etc.) and document belongings.
• Respond to calls and emergencies; may respond to Code Situations.
• Control entrance/exit by verifying identity, purpose of visit and authorization; escort individuals for safety.
• Prepare and maintain records: incident reports, vehicle citations, visitor logs, personal property reports; inform supervisor of security concerns.
• Communicate with law enforcement to report incidents and request assistance.
• Patrol facilities, monitor alarms, and use security systems to check for hazards, disturbances, and violations.
• Visually monitor individuals to ensure safety and policy compliance.
• Operate patrol transport vehicles for security patrols or transporting valuables/people.
• Use two-way radios and other communications devices to accomplish security tasks.

Duration: 8+ Months

Night Shift 6:00 pm-7:30 am/3 Days week

The first 2-3 weeks will be 8-hour shifts M-F with exception of week 1 which is Fri only with Human Resources. Employee will then transition to 6p-730a shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school; qualifying full-time law enforcement, security, or related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Other Requirements: A valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions.

Job Overview

• Under general supervision, the employee is responsible for institutional and related security work of average difficulty and performs related work as required. An employee in this class may be assigned to work any shift to provide a full range of institutional and other security activities, such as protecting public buildings.

Work Activities

• Assists in Admissions with processing patients (i.e., wanding with a metal detector, pat downs, etc.). Responsible for reviewing and documenting the patient's belongings.

• Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings: Patrols facilities, monitors alarms and utilizes audiovisual and security systems (e.g., TV monitors) to check for security hazards, disturbances, and violations of pertinent laws, rules, or regulations.
• Visually monitors individuals to ensure safety and compliance with policies, rules, and regulations.
• Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment: Operates patrol and transport vehicles to complete security patrols or transport valuables and individuals.
• Controlling Machines and Processes: Operates two-way radios and other communications devices to accomplish security tasks.
