Job summary

American Unit, Inc is seeking security personnel to perform institutional security duties and related tasks. The role involves shift work, including 8-hour days Monday through Friday during the first 2–3 weeks, with Week 1 consisting of Friday only, and then transitioning to night shifts from 6:00 PM to 7:30 AM.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, with substitution allowed for related security experience. A valid driver's license may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Assists in Admissions with processing patients and reviewing belongings.
• Responds to calls and takes appropriate action in emergencies; may respond to Code Situations.
• Controls entrance and exit by checking identity, purpose of visit, and authorization; escorts individuals for safety.
• Prepares and maintains records such as incident reports, vehicle citations, logs of visitors and property; informs supervisor of security concerns.
• Communicates with law enforcement to report incidents and request assistance; monitors alarms and security systems.
• Operates patrol and transport vehicles and two-way radios to perform security tasks.

Job description

The first 2-3 weeks will be 8-hour shifts M-F with exception of week 1 which is Fri only with Human Resources. Employee will then transition to 6p-730a shifts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school; qualifying full-time law enforcement, security, or related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Other Requirements: A valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions.

Job Overview:

Under general supervision, the employee is responsible for institutional and related security work of average difficulty and performs related work as required. An employee in this class may be assigned to work any shift to provide a full range of institutional and other security activities, such as protecting public buildings.

Work Activities:

• Assists in Admissions with processing patients (i.e., wanding with a metal detector, pat downs, etc.). Responsible for reviewing and documenting the patient's belongings.
• Responds to calls and take appropriate action to assist in emergencies. May be required to respond to Code Situations.
• Controls entrance and exit of individuals by checking for identity, purpose of visit, and authorization. Escorts individuals to ensure their safety.
• Prepares and maintains records such as incident reports, vehicle citations, logs of visitors and others, and personal property reports. Provides information to supervisor by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in-person to advise of any security concerns.
• Communicates with law enforcement agencies to report incidents, provide information, and request assistance. Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings: Patrols facilities, monitors alarms and utilizes audiovisual and security systems (e.g., TV monitors) to check for security hazards, disturbances, and violations of pertinent laws, rules, and regulations. Visually monitors individuals to ensure safety and compliance with policies, rules, and regulations.
• Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment: Operates patrol and transport vehicles to complete security patrols or transport valuables and individuals. Controlling Machines and Processes: Operates two-way radios and other communications devices to accomplish security tasks.
