Allied Universal is seeking a Part Time Security Guard (Unarmed TWIC Inspection Patrol) for our Portsmouth, VA site. The role involves patrolling port facilities and monitoring access points, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining security operations in a government transportation setting.

Qualified applicants will hold a TSA-issued TWIC, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and pass a background check and drug screen as required.

Qualifications

• A guard card/license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, contractors, and/or vendors while following site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response protocols.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of port facilities, access points, parking areas, waterfront-adjacent areas, buildings, and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access to restricted areas, verify credentials as directed, and report unusual conditions or entry attempts to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations calmly and professionally; document observations and actions.
• Maintain a professional presence at a government transportation location and communicate clearly with site personnel and responding agencies.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, contractors, and/or vendors while following site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response protocols.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of port facilities, access points, parking areas, waterfront-adjacent areas, buildings, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access to restricted areas, verify credentials as directed, and report unusual conditions, unauthorized entry attempts, and/or damaged property to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; document observations and actions according to site procedures.
• Maintain a professional presence at a government transportation location while communicating clearly with site personnel, visitors, and responding public-service agencies.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess a TSA-issued TWIC.
• A guard card/license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
