Job summary

CGS is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join a team responsible for evaluating, enhancing, and maintaining a large scale network project with wired and wireless infrastructure.

The role requires coordinating with government personnel, stakeholders, and vendors, delivering documentation, testing procedures, and network security updates. Hybrid/Remote options available, located in Chicago, IL and Detroit, MI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CS, Business, IS or related.
• Strong documentation including JIRA, Wiki, and network diagrams.
• Ability to communicate with end users and cross-functional teams.
• CWNA or equivalent certification.
• BCNE or equivalent certification.
• Experience with RF site survey tools: Ekahau, RF Scanners, Wireshark.
• Knowledge of VLANs, 802.1w, OSPF, VRRP.
• Network security: 802.1x, MAC auth, ACLs, RADIUS, CA.
• Troubleshoot RF and LAN issues.
• Linux, Windows Server 2013, VMware experience.
• Master’s degree in Engineering, CS, IS, or related.
• 3+ years in disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Penetration testing and vulnerability assessment experience.
• Cyber threat information collection/analysis.
• Agile/Scrum project management knowledge.
• Additional industry certifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage NPS network infrastructure.
• Improve monitoring and reporting with network management software.
• Develop and maintain network infrastructure documentation.
• Review best practices and recommend architecture and design.
• Administer Cloudpath onboarding, monitor wireless health, apply security patches.
• Assess and optimize the NPS network.
• Define and run testing for new projects.
• Implement network solutions.
• Provide network design guidance.
• Provide informal training to NPS staff.
