Job summary

CGS Federal is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize a large-scale wired and wireless network infrastructure. You will oversee testing, security patches, and vendor coordination for NPS projects across Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, GA in a hybrid work setting.

You will interface with government personnel and stakeholders to deliver robust network solutions, maintain documentation, and perform regular health checks and vulnerability assessments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Information systems or related discipline.
• Strong documentation skills including updating JIRA Tickets, Wiki Pages and Network Diagrams.
• CWNA Certification or equivalent
• BCNE Certification or equivalent
• Experience with RF site survey tools such as Ekahau, RF Scanners and Wireshark.
• Knowledge of 802.1x, VLANs, OSPF, VRRP and related routing/security concepts.
• Linux/Windows server and virtualization familiarity.
• Master’s Degree preferred in a related field
• 3+ years experience in disaster recovery planning or testing.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage network infrastructure in the NPS environment.
• Enhance infrastructure monitoring and reporting with network management software.
• Create and maintain infrastructure documentation including diagrams.
• Review best practices; advise on design and operation of network.
• Administer onboarding, monitor wireless health, patching, and updates (0800–1700 PST).
• Assess network and propose optimizations and improvements.
• Define testing procedures for new projects; implement solutions.
• Provide design guidance for network solutions within NPS projects.
• Offer training and knowledge transfer on network best practices.
