Job summary

OpenAI Deployment Company (DeployCo) seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to lead high-stakes customer deployments and own technical and business outcomes end-to-end. You will set the engagement bar and drive deployment success across enterprise environments.

The role is based in Washington, D.C., New York, or San Francisco with a hybrid schedule and up to 50% travel. An active U.S. government security clearance is required; TS/SCI with polygraph is preferred, but all levels will be considered.

Qualifications

• 4+ engineering years building frontend and backend systems.
• Proficiency in JavaScript or Python for production deployments.
• Experience delivering deployments in restricted, secured environments.
• Ability to collaborate with cleared customer teams and thrive under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical engagements end to end, delivering quickly with sound engineering judgment.
• Build reusable deployment capabilities and guide implementation strategy.
• Coach teammates, capture repeatable practices, and elevate customer or product issues.
• Design integrations that respect environment access boundaries and data flows.
• Evaluate AI behavior using permitted datasets, and develop testing, observability, and human review.
• Partner with customer security and infrastructure teams on environment readiness, release procedures, and handoff.
• Share reusable lessons through approved channels while protecting customer-sensitive data.
