Job summary

RTX’s Air Defense Ground Equipment Mechanical Design Department seeks a Section Leader - Manager, Mech. Eng in a onsite role at MA sites.

Lead cross-functional teams across IPTs, guide design from concept to production, and manage cost, schedule, and technical performance for critical defense systems. The role emphasizes hardware and electronics packaging, materials selection, GD&T and tolerance analysis, with opportunities in proposal leadership and risk management.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with 8+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years.
• Experience leading engineering teams with cost, schedule and technical execution responsibility.
• Mechanical design expertise including trade studies, detailed design, production transition and supplier support.
• Experience with materials selection, manufacturing processes, GD&T and tolerance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams with responsibility for cost, schedule, and technical performance.
• Conduct performance reviews and support recruitment and retention efforts.
• Guide mechanical design from concept through detailed design and production transition.
• Develop and integrate mechanical hardware and electronics packaging (chassis, modules, PCAs, PCBAs, interconnects).
• Apply materials selection, manufacturing processes, GD&T and tolerance analysis to ensure quality and reliability.
