RTX’s Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) in San Diego seeks a Section Leader to support staffing, coaching, and performance of engineers across programs. You will help develop talent while contributing to engineering testing, integration, and deployment across the product lifecycle.

The role combines technical leadership with people management, offering opportunities to influence staffing decisions and collaborate with program and functional leaders.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience in systems, software, integration and/or test.
• Experience leading technical teams.

Responsabilités

• Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and career development for section members.
• Lead recurring performance discussions, including goal setting and structured feedback.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Foster a collaborative, supportive team environment that promotes growth and retention.
• Partner with program and functional leadership to assess workforce needs and address staffing challenges.
• Advocate for continuous improvement across engineering teams, workflows, and culture.
• Manage key administrative responsibilities including timekeeping, training compliance, and salary planning.
• Support department- and directorate-level initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to RTX values, policies, and engineering best practices.
• Work as a technical lead or individual contributor; Section Leader duties account for approximately 10% of the employee’s time.
• Travel domestically, up to 20%.
