Job summary

NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeks an Administrative Engineer NM-1 to serve as the Section Chief for the Regulatory and Engineering Programs Division (REP) in Kingston, NY. The role directs staff across stormwater and wastewater programs, and assures compliance with watershed regulations and SEQRA.

The ideal candidate holds a New York State Professional Engineer license and has six years of engineering experience, including two years in managerial roles.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Professional Engineer license.
• Six years of full-time experience in engineering fields (chemical/civil/electrical/environmental, etc.).
• At least two years in executive, managerial, or administrative capacity.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage REP activities for stormwater, wastewater, and WRR compliance.
• Coordinate enforcement actions with DEP Legal, NYSDEC and NYSDOH.
• Represent DEP in meetings with engineers, consultants and local governments.
• Oversee contracts, budgets, and program implementation for watershed protection.
• Provide guidance on SEQRA and watershed rule interpretation.
