Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautic Systems in San Diego, CA, seeks a Structural Analysis Engineer (Level 2) to perform stress analysis on primary and secondary aircraft structures and support development using CATIA, FEMAP, Patran and Nastran tools.

Active USG Secret clearance is required. BS or MS in Aerospace/Mechanical/Civil engineering with 0–2+ years experience, plus familiarity with bonded composite and metallic structures, is expected. This role follows a 9/80 schedule on site in San Diego.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Aerospace/Mechanical/Civil) with 2+ years of aerospace structural analysis (or MS with 0 years).
• Active USG Secret clearance (with a recent background investigation).
• Experience in bonded composite and metallic structural analysis of aircraft structures.

Responsibilities

• Provide stress analysis for primary and secondary structure.
• Review analyses, drawings, and repairs for accuracy.
• Coordinate with other disciplines during design solutions.
• Explain structural issues/solutions to management and customer representatives.
• Maintain and improve part designs, equipment, and systems in production support.
• Develop solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and aligned with program objectives.
• Evaluate as-built products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
• Experience with structural analysis methods and large Finite Element Models.
