Job summary

Baltimore City Public Schools is seeking History educators for a teacher pool serving grades 7–12. Positions may be in classrooms, labs, or off-site sites and may require itinerant assignments across multiple schools.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, using multimedia resources, and assessing student progress, while maintaining effective behavior management and parent communication.

Qualifications

• Valid educator license in secondary History or eligibility for conditional license.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or institution.
• Knowledge of federal laws protecting educational services for students with disabilities.
• Knowledge of History content, curriculum, methods, and materials.
• Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills.
• Ability to select instructional planning, management, and evaluation procedures.
• Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.

Responsibilities

• Assess student abilities related to goals and outcomes.
• Plan and implement instructional strategies using varied materials and tech.
• Develop/adapt materials to meet student needs within the curriculum framework.
• Establish and maintain effective discipline and student behavior management.
• Coordinate instructional activities and collaborate with staff.
• Maintain communication with parents about student progress.
• Participate in staff development and meetings.
• Ensure documentation of student achievement for reporting purposes.
• Assist or supervise paraprofessionals and volunteers as needed.
• Support itinerant assignments and off-site activities as required.
