Job summary

Baltimore City Public Schools is seeking teachers and licensed professionals for its Teacher Pool. The role involves assessing student abilities, planning and delivering instruction, and adapting materials to meet diverse learner needs across multiple schools.

Candidates must hold a valid educator license in middle grades General Social Studies (or be eligible for conditional licensure). The position offers full-time status and is affiliated with BTU and the State Retirement Plan.

Qualifications

• Valid middle grades General Social Studies license or conditional eligibility
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
• Knowledge of laws protecting educational services for students with disabilities
• Knowledge of instructional content, curriculum, methods, materials
• Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills
• Ability to plan, manage, and evaluate instruction per objectives
• Ability to apply current research and theory to instructional programs
• Ability to plan lessons per division objectives and student needs
• Ability to establish relationships with students, peers, and parents
• Ability to move around room to check student work and monitor behavior

Responsibilities

• Assesses student abilities related to educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
• Plans and implements instructional strategies and uses multimedia and computer technology to enhance learning.
• Develops and adapts instructional materials to meet student needs within the district curriculum.
• Establishes and maintains effective discipline and management procedures.
• Manages student behavior to ensure a conducive learning environment.
• Collaborates with other professionals to maximize learning opportunities.
• Maintains communication with parents about student progress.
• Supervises paraprofessionals and volunteers as needed.
