Job summary

Baltimore City Public Schools is seeking a licensed Chemistry teacher for grades 7–12 to join the teacher pool. You will plan and deliver instruction, assess student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to support student achievement.

Qualifications

• > Valid educator license in secondary Chemistry or eligible for a conditional license in secondary grades Chemistry (Chemistry major OR 24 college credits in Chemistry with C or better and GPA 2.5+)
• > Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or institution
• > Knowledge of federal laws protecting educational services for students with disabilities
• > Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty to which assigned
• > Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills
• > Ability to select instructional planning, management, and evaluation procedures that relate to student needs
• > Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
• > Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students
• > Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents
• > Ability to move about the room to check student work and monitor behavior
• > Preferred: Knowledge of School program of studies and Bachelor’s in Chemistry

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements an instructional program in Chemistry and provides related educational services
• Manages student behavior and assesses student achievement; modifies instructional activities accordingly
• Develops and individualizes materials and strategies to meet student needs within the district framework
• Collaborates with professional staff to maximize learning opportunities
• Communicates with parents about student progress and maintains documentation of assessments
