Caseloads are capped, with responsibilities spanning client interviews, service planning, court testimony, and coordination with community resources.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a County Caseworker I with satisfactory PER and supervisory approval
• Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern Program with supervisory approval and no disciplinary measures
• A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major or an equivalent combination of coursework and social work experience

Responsibilities

• Obtains information from clients, family members, and others to identify social, economic, emotional, health, or physical problems and for helping clients access services
• Provides casework and counseling services to help clients adjust to their problems
• Provides protective and supportive services for abused or neglected children and adults
• Prepares documents and provides testimony in court according to agency procedure
• Provides protective and supportive services for clients in situations detrimental to their well-being
• Participates in developing service plans to address client and family needs
• Continuously assess and revise service plans to achieve goals
• Identifies community resources and links clients to services, advocating on their behalf
• Works with social agencies, hospitals, clinics, courts, and other resources
• Teaches clients home and budget management, childcare and parenting skills, and assists with housing, employment, recreation, and living arrangements
• Interprets agency policy
• Attends staff meetings
• Documents case activity
• For bilingual County Case Worker II, translating forms from English to Spanish and interpreting calls
