Job summary

KPFF Consulting Engineers in Seattle is seeking a Summer 2027 Structural Engineering Intern to work on real-world projects from day one. You will join the Structural Team, assisting with diverse building projects and collaborating with experienced engineers to develop designs for high-rise towers, offices, hospitals, and more.

The internship offers hands-on exposure to calculations, plan production, and design software, with opportunities to travel to project sites and learn under senior staff.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an ABET accredited bachelor's or masters in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
• Completion of two or more design courses (concrete, steel, wood, or masonry) by the start of the 2027 internship.
• Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Desire for continued learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced engineers in solving complex engineering problems and executing project goals.
• Support engineers and CAD staff with design-related tasks such as calculations, plan production and review.
• Utilize engineering and design software to contribute to project development.
• Travel to project sites and fabrication facilities to observe existing conditions and active construction.
• Apply core engineering principles and advanced mathematical techniques to tackle real-world challenges.
• Navigate federal, state, and local regulations while aligning with KPFF’s standards.
• Participate in workshops and Q&A with Senior Engineers and Principals.
• Thrive in a vibrant, inclusive, and collaborative team environment.
