Job summary

KPFF Seattle invites students pursuing ABET-accredited civil engineering degrees to apply for the Summer 2027 Bridge Structural Engineering Internship. Based in downtown Seattle, you will join a team focused on bridges and heavy-civil projects, contributing to real design problems from day one.

You will assist experienced engineers, support CAD staff, and use design software while traveling to project sites to observe conditions.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an ABET accredited bachelor's or master's in civil engineering with a structural focus.
• Completion of two or more design courses (concrete, steel, wood, or masonry) by the start of the 2027 internship.
• Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Desire for continued learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with solving design problems and project goals.
• Support CAD staff with calculations, plan production and review.
• Use engineering software to contribute to project development.
• Travel to project sites to observe conditions and construction.
• Apply engineering principles and math to tackle real-world challenges.
• Learn federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
