Job summary

KPFF Seattle is offering the Summer 2027 Bridge Structural Engineering Internship. You will join our Civil/Structural Team to support bridge projects, calculations, plan production, and site visits in downtown Seattle.

Interns work from our office and gain hands-on experience solving real design problems, learning software tools, and collaborating with senior engineers on active projects with guidance and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an ABET-accredited bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
• Completion of two or more design courses (concrete, steel, wood, or masonry) by start of 2027 internship.
• Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Desire for continued learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced engineers in solving complex engineering problems and achieving project goals.
• Support engineers and CAD staff with design tasks such as calculations and plan production.
• Utilize engineering and design software to contribute to project development.
• Travel to project sites to observe existing conditions and active construction.
• Apply core engineering principles and higher-level mathematics to real-world challenges.
• Familiarize with federal, state, and local regulations, aligning with KPFF's standards.
• Thrive in a collaborative team environment that values creativity and excellence.
• Participate in internship program with growth and networking opportunities in structural engineering.
